Relief International (RI), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development, currently seeks an Operations Intern.

Position Summary: RI’s video intern will work to manipulate and edit video footage relevant to multiple RI projects, as well as to revitalize RI’s website content. By developing creative, driven, and poignant pieces, our intern will be essential in expanding the numbers of those aware of RI’s programs and mission, to reduce human suffering worldwide. The intern must be LA-based.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Create a series of visually stunning videos for RI’s online media and promotional materials, including editing and uploading video content for RI’s website.

• Correspond with different programs for consistent updated information.

• Capture and archive rough footage as well as organize and maintain files.

Required Skills:

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Previous hands-on experience with converting and managing different types of media, creating graphics and fonts, color correcting, and outputting edited footage to multiple formats including DVD.

• Proficient knowledge of Photoshop or After Effects.

• Proficient knowledge of Final Cut, Avid, or Premier preferred.

• Access to own editing software highly preferred.

• Energetic and assertive, prepared to not only follow direction, but also proactively provide design and communication ideas.

• Ability to work under strict deadlines and work independently as well as on a team.

• Detail oriented, organized and ability to troubleshoot.

• Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or related field, or formal training in film editing, video production, and/or post production techniques preferred.

• Some knowledge of HTML and web design a plus.

• General knowledge of world affairs and international/intergovernmental institutions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Conduct internet research, price comparisons of shipping costs, and miscellaneous procurement duties

• Assist with daily operations for headquarters and field offices; including international communications, logistics, travel arrangements and coordination between field and HQ.

• Support Operations Department with ensuring that the organization is in adherence to in-country registration requirements, etc.

• Carry out procurement procedures and paperwork for capital assets for field and HQ offices; provide consolidation and shipping support

• Assist Relief International employees as needed

• Professional demeanor

• Able to work well under tight deadlines and with limited resources

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Knowledge of Excel and basic word processing

• General knowledge of world affairs and international/intergovernmental institutions.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate field related to International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy or Business Administration/Management; Graduate students and volunteers are welcome.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

• Ability to learn and adapt to a fast pace environment

• Second language desired [French encouraged to apply]

Position Summary: The Communications and PR Intern is provided with an opportunity to work as part of a communications team promoting RI’s humanitarian work worldwide.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Work with Communications and PR Officer to edit/develop website content.

• Work with the Philanthropy team on communications projects, including printing and production of RI’s PR materials.

• Assist with writing and editing of outreach that supports RI as well as media outreach to promote fundraising events.

Required Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Current student or recent graduate of BA in communication, international relations, or related field, having completed relevant coursework;

• Excellent writing and editing capabilities;

• Energetic and assertive work-related attitude;

• Willingness to take direction, as well as proactively provide communication ideas;

• Ability to work independently and on a team, with strict deadlines;

• Demonstrated interest in international development and relief efforts with a strong commitment to local and global social justice;

• Demonstrated ability to think critically, resourcefully and strategically to maximize the communication team’s contribution to RI’s mission.
